Appointments Project

Emphasizing a point of engagement in a brand designed to produce change

The Women’s Foundation turned to Design Ranch to establish a strong brand identity for the Appointments Project, a program created to increase gender diversity on public boards and commissions. The brand needed to resonate with women interested in civic engagement and inspire elected officials to make appointments that reflect their communities. To do this, Design Ranch created a sleek, serif logomark and leveraged some wordplay.

We used two words to echo the project name and reinforce the group’s purpose. The phrase “A Point” immediately conveyed the importance of the information contained in the marketing materials, and large-scale illustrations captured the confidence and determination of women working to make positive change. The new brand image and refined marketing materials got right to the point about the importance of women engaging in civic responsibility as board and commission members.
