Market Center of the Ozarks

Local Cultures Grow Regional Value

challenge

The Walton Foundation approached Design Ranch with a vision to create a marketplace that would reconnect Northwest Arkansas to its rich agricultural roots by giving local farmers a dedicated place to process their products and build community. Once a thriving center for farming and agriculture, the region needed a compelling name and brand identity that could honor its heritage while inspiring a new generation to support local food systems. The challenge was to develop a brand that felt authentic, community-driven, and forward-looking, one capable of rallying farmers, vendors, and residents around a shared mission for the future.

approach

Design Ranch approached the project by developing a strategic naming, brand identity, and environmental wayfinding system that would reconnect Northwest Arkansas to its agricultural heritage while positioning the marketplace as a vibrant destination for the future. Rooted in extensive research into the region’s farming history, local culture, and community aspirations, the team crafted a name and visual identity that felt both authentic and forward-looking. The brand system extended seamlessly into a comprehensive wayfinding and signage program designed to create a welcoming, intuitive experience while complimenting the architecture of the space.
