Challenge

Visit Overland Park approached Design Ranch to create a campaign that would position the city as a vibrant and welcoming destination for locals, weekend travelers, and event-goers. Overland Park has something for everyone, offering a mix of restaurants, shopping, entertainment, sports, and family-friendly attractions. What was missing was a clear and memorable way to bring all of these experiences together. The goal was to increase hotel stays and drive overall engagement by showing that Overland Park is not just a great place to visit, but the place to stay. The challenge was to unify all that the city has to offer into one energetic and flexible message that could speak to a wide range of audiences while capturing the heart and personality of OP.

Approach

We built the “Come on Over” campaign as a friendly, high-energy invitation that speaks to all types of travelers. The campaign’s primary messaging was structured around playful, interest-based questions such as Cheering on the Chiefs? or Repping the Royals? followed by the campaign’s bold answer: Come on Over. This format made Overland Park the clear destination and gave the campaign room to connect with different audiences based on their interests.

Visually, we expanded on the circular shapes from the OP logo to create a dynamic design system. The circle became a moving element throughout the campaign, adding rhythm and personality while representing both movement and place. It served as a visual thread across categories, guiding people through the OP experience and reinforcing the city as the place to stay. We developed the full campaign branding, advertising, photography, positioning, and video storyboarding to bring the concept to life. The result was a cohesive, upbeat campaign that showcased the many reasons to make Overland Park your destination.
